General Meeting Scheduled

A general meeting of the Grey Robe Monks of St. Benedict will take place in Denver, CO. during June 11-13.  Further information will be posted as it becomes available.

Departure of the Cameroon Community

We are sad to announce the departure of the  community in Cameroon from the Grey Robe Order.  We wish them every success and pray for their blessings in the future.

Priory News from Sacramento

Prior Bob Hart, OSB has sent word of a new oblate for the Priory of St. Benedict and Scholastica.  The new oblate is Lorna Kioski.  The community also will celebrate the renewal of simple vows for Rev. Elizabeth English, OSB, Br. Chuck Lopez, OSB, and Sr. Diane Katherine Uebelhart, OSB.  Congratulations and blessings to all.

Simple Profession

Congratulations to Br. Thomas Brady, OSB who made his simple profession this weekend with the Luz De Cristo Community in Goodyear, AZ.  Br. Thomas lives in Kansas and will be forming a community in the area.

New Abbey in Florida

During the gathering of the Southern Cross Abbey, Abbess Senia Mary Magdalene Fix, OSB announced the election for Rev. Albert Pike, OSB as Abbot-Elect for the new Abbey in Florida.  The election of Abbot-Elect Albert was approved by the Abbot General, Abbot Terry Boyer, OSB. Abbot-Elect Albert will serve the new Abbey of the Good Shepherd beginning June 1.  Please keep Abbot-Elect Albert, the Abbey of the Good Shepherd in your prayers.

Southern Cross Abbey

Abbess Senia Mary Magdalene Fix, OSB will gather the community members from Georgia and Florida on May 29 & 30, 2009.  The community will discuss the expansion of members and the need for establishing an Abbey in Florida in the region.  Please keep them in your prayers during their gathering. 

New Community from Cameroon, Africa

We are pleased to announce the addition of a community in Cameroon, Africa.  Dom Emmanuel Maria, FSSC, OSB is the superior of the community and we are blessed by their presence.  Please take a look at the community page now on the website.

Contact from Africa

The Abbot General has been contacted by a community in Cameroon inquiring about the possibility of acceptance in the Grey Robe Benedictines.  There are 8 priests, 5 deacons, 10 brothers and 1 nun who no longer have a bishop or mother house.  This is a new venture for the Grey Robes and we seek prayers for this community.

New Priory to Open in Denver

Br. Kieran David Garner, OSB has requested, and been given, permission to establish a priory in Colorado.  Br. Kieran will be meeting with members to establish a name for their priory.  Br. Kieran has worked very hard to establish a community in the Denver area.  Please keep him and the charter members of this new community in your prayers.

 

Information Night

On Tuesday evening, January 20, David Garner. O.S.B. will give a presentation on the Grey Robe Monks of St. Benedict at Holy Family Church, 16738 East Illif Ave, Aurora, CO. The Grey Robes are an Ecumenical Benedictine Community comprised primarily of Catholic, Episcopal and Lutheran men and women.  The presentation will be from 7: 00 – 8:30PM with a question and answer period to follow. 

Author and lecturer, Br. David holds a BA from Denver University, an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Doctorate in Religious Studies from Emerson Theological Institute.

New Postulant

The Director of Inquirers and Novice Master, Bro. Earl Jacob, OSB, has announced the acceptance of Thomas Brady from Kansas as a postulant in the order.  Please pray for Thomas as he begins his discernment in monastic life.

Prayer Master

Sr. Diane Uebelhart, OSB has been assigned the duties of prayer master for the Grey Robe Monks of St. Benedict.  As Prayer Master, Sr. Diane will ensure that individuals who request prayer receive a response from the order and, ensure that all of the communities are informed of the request for community prayer.
